Southern Boone named current Marceline Tiger head football coach Mark Ross its head football coach yesterday. Ross’ Tigers finished second in Class 1 last fall with a 12-2 record. Marceline captured a third straight district title and seventh consecutive Lewis and Clark title before a 21-7 loss to East Buchanan in the state championship. His record in four season as Marceline head coach was 42-7. Ross also served as the school’s athletic director. The former Kansas graduate assistant called both Marceline’s offense and defense last fall. Ross replaces Trent Tracy at Southern Boone. Tracy resigned after eight seasons to become Southern Boone’s athletic director. The Eagles ended 3-7 last year after six straight winning seasons, including the 2018 district championship.
