Missouri Dept. of Health and Senior Services alerts residents about Ticks

MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SENIOR SERVICES ALERTS RESIDENTS ABOUT TICKS. Tick exposure can occur year-round, but ticks are most active during warmer months (April-September). The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services says before You Go Outdoors:

  1. Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants, and tuck your pants into your socks.
  2. Wear light-colored clothing so ticks can be easily spotted.
  3. Apply bug spray containing 20 percent DEET to your skin, particularly the base of your pant legs or ends of sleeves. Follow the label instructions carefully.
  4. Frequently check your skin for ticks.
