Over the past week or so, Kirksville police have responded to four separate incidents of shots fired around the city. The most recent happened shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of South Baird Street. Sgt. Steve Feeney told KTVO Television that dispatchers received multiple reports about gunfire. Officers say a vehicle was struck Saturday night, but no injuries were reported. Police arrested a suspect late Saturday. He’s on 24-hour investigative hold at the Adair County Law Enforcement Center. His name is not being released until formal charges are filed. This was the second recent incident of shots fired in the 1300 block of South Baird Street. Around 10:45 p.m. Thursday, a house in that block was struck by a bullet. No one was injured. Then, around 9:15 p.m. on Friday, police officers rushed to the intersection of Jefferson and Baltimore streets for a report of shots fired at that location. They found no damage to any buildings, cars or other property. The suspect was reportedly driving a four-door vehicle with very dark tinted windows. According to reports, it headed south on Baltimore Street, and the person got away.
