Randolph county Sheriff identifies man who barricaded himself in a home

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Department identified the man at 59 year old Stephen Jay Thorp who at last word remained barricaded in a home on County Road 2360, east of Moberly. Thorp is reportedly armed and is on parole for 2nd degree murder. Three people including Thorp were inside the home when authorities arrived Monday morning around 8 am and two were able to safely exit the home. Approximately 50 officers from various agencies are on the scene including officers from the Highway Patrol, US Marshals office, the Randolph County Sheriff’s office and Moberly Police Department. Several SWAT teams on also on scene. Randolph County Sheriff Aaron Wilson said Thorp fired four rounds inside the home and shot down a law enforcement drone. Thorp is wanted on a warrant for parole violation on the 2nd degree murder charge and is now facing multiple new charges. A Columbia TV Station is also reporting Thorp is wanted regarding a Pike County shooting.
