Today is the April Municipal Election around the County

Today is the April Municipal Election and County Clerks and others across the area will be busy until all the votes are in and counted. Polls opened at 6am and will remain open until 7pm tonight. School Board races and City Council positions seem to always make up the majority of the election ballots, but many areas also have other questions pending before voters. In Linn County, the Linn County Law Enforcement Sales Tax issue is just one of a number of things voters will decide. In Marceline voters will vote on 3 candidates to fill two positions on the City Council. Also, in Marceline voters will decide on a proposed ½ of 1 percent increase in the general sales tax. Proposition Bulldogs is a funding question for the Brookfield R-3 Schools, Three candidates are on ballots in Laclede with two to be elected. There are four candidates for three seats on the Linn County Health Department board. Browning has three propositions on the ballot. The first one involves a proposed one percent city sales tax, for a 25 year period, to finance the construction, maintenance, and improvements of a new fire station. Another asks whether the town of Browning should issue general obligation bonds of up to $150,000 for a new fire station. The third at Browning is to forgo annual elections when the number of candidates filed equals the positions open.   Meadville voters will decide the fate of Proposition 2 and more. Salisbury voters will decide on a transportation tax, Mendon voters have 2 propositions to consider. Those are just a few of the issues to go before voters today. Again, polls are currently open and will remain so until 7 o’clock tonight. We will have results as they come in tonight after 8 here on KDWD.
