Divers spent much of day Monday searching a northeast Missouri lake

Divers spent much of the day Monday searching a northeast Missouri lake, but law enforcement won’t say exactly what they are looking for underwater. KTVO television reports the search is underway at Elmwood Lake, a mile north of Milan. A Milan police officer had the road leading to the lake blocked off. Cpl. Justin Dunn with the Missouri State Highway Patrol said the agency’s divers are searching for possible “hidden evidence.” Dunn said investigators received a tip during an interview that the so-called “evidence” may have been dumped in Elmwood Lake. He would not release any other details about the investigation, saying only that there is no threat or danger to the community. The divers arrived at the scene around 10 a.m. Monday. Dunn says the highway patrol had three boats on the lake, and the Missouri Department of Conservation had one boat on the water helping with the search.
