Deputy in Randolph County Sheriff Dept was shot in Moberly

A deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department was shot while attempting to take a suspect into custody early Sunday morning. Corporal Justin Dunn, Missouri State Highway Patrol Public Information & Education Officer said law enforcement officers from both the Moberly Police Department and the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department had responded to the scene of a disturbance in the 600 block of Adams Avenue in Moberly shortly before 2 am. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a woman who was injured and as officers were attempting to take a man into custody he resisted arrest and as authorities worked to subdue the suspect is when the deputy was shot. He was transported to University Hospital in Columbia with serious, not non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was taken into custody and held at the Boone County Jail pending filing of formal charges. The Highway Patrol is conducting the formal investigation regarding the shooting incident.
