Mizzou is expected to make Cleveland State Basketball coach Dennis Gates the next head coach of the Men’s team

The University of Missouri is expected to make Cleveland State basketball coach Dennis Gates the next head coach for the Tigers men’s team, PowerMizzou.com and the St. Louis Post Dispatch report. The reports say the hire is pending approval from the university’s Board of Curators. The 42-year-old Gates has a 50-40 record in his time with Cleveland State with an NCAA Tournament appearance last season, and has earned Horizon League coach of the year honors in each of the last two seasons. Prior to Cleveland State, Gates was an assistant at Florida State. Gates will replace Cuonzo Martin, who went 78-77 with two NCAA Tournament appearances in five seasons as Tiger head coach. Mizzou announced last week that Martin would not return after a 12-21 2021-22 season.
