A man used a fake $67,500 cashier’s check to steal tracker and hay rake in Sullivan county

A man used a fake $67,500 cashier’s check to steal a tractor and hay rake in Sullivan County. Investigators say the man used the fake name of Kevin Walker and falsely claimed to be from Mitchellville, Iowa. Scotland County Sheriff Bryan Whitney told KTVO television the theft happened on June 10th, at Ed’s Machinery on Highway 136, a mile east of Memphis. Whitney said the thief removed the license plates from his black, late-model Dodge dually pickup truck before committing the crime. He was pulling a Big Tex flatbed trailer. The sheriff said the man used a fake cashier’s check as well as a fake ID to “buy” the 2019 Massey Ferguson tractor and Rhino hay rake. Investigators have no idea who he really is or where he is from. He was last seen traveling west on Highway 136 from Ed’s Machinery on June 10. If you have any tip, big or small, about the crime you are asked to call the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office at 660-465-2106.
