Milan man accused of attacking employee at the Adair county Jail

A Milan man is accused of attacking an employee at the Adair County jail. KTVO television reports the Adair County Sheriff’s Office identified the 19 year old man as inmate Dason Forrester. The altercation happened on the night of Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022. Sheriff Eldon Grissom told KTVO Forrester refused to lock down when ordered to do so by the jailer. The male employee then went to escort Forrester to his cell. The sheriff said that is when the inmate attacked the jailer and put him in a chokehold, nearly rendering him unconscious. Officials said the jailer was able to get free from the chokehold just as help was arriving. The employee was taken by ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released. The jailer is expected to make a full recovery, and he has returned to work. The sheriff’s office is seeking additional charges against Forrester related to the incident at the jail. Right now, he is being held in the Adair County Law Enforcement Center for Shelby County on charges of abuse or neglect of a child and third-degree assault. Forrester also has a Sullivan County warrant for felony stealing.
