North Missouri man arrested by Macon Police Department

A north Missouri man with a history of run-ins with law enforcement is now accused of beating up a man at a convenience store and damaging a pickup truck by jumping up and down on it. The suspect is Mark James Baggos, 31, of Excello, Missouri. He was arrested by the Macon Police Department on Feb. 4th. According to court documents, Baggos physically assaulted a man in a Macon convenience store by repeatedly punching him in the face and head. The police report says the victim was standing at the counter speaking to a cashier when Baggos approached him from the restroom area of the store. Police said Baggos fled on foot and ran to a nearby parking lot where he climbed on top of a parked pickup truck and did more than $1,800 in damage by jumping on the truck’s roof. The pickup had dents and paint scratches. When police arrived, officers said Baggos was still on top of the truck with his shirt off, making strange statements about people tracking him and “out to get him.” Police said Baggos appeared to be under the influence of drugs, but he refused to provide a urine sample for drug-testing purposes when he was being booked at the Macon County jail. Baggos is charged with first-degree property damage and third-degree assault for this most recent incident. The defendant is charged in at least six other incidents in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Those charges in Macon and Randolph counties include assault, burglary, stealing a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, trespassing and negligent burning or exploding.
